MEDIA STATEMENT
TERMINATION OF BROADCASTING SERVICES OF MOTJOLI FM
Pursuant to Section 5 (z) of the Communications Act of 2012 read together with rule 8 (1) (a), (b), and (c) the board of directors of the Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA) has resolved to direct Motjoli FM – a Community Radio Station based in Thaba Tseka to switch off its radio broadcasting transmission equipment.
This resolution was made during the Board’s sitting on the 15th December, 2023 and comes into effect immediately. This comes after Motjoli FM failed to submit application for renewal of its broadcasting licence until it expired on the 11th December, 2023.
In order for Motjoli FM to resume its broadcasting service, a new application for the provision of sound broadcasting services must be submitted in accordance with the Rules governing issuance of broadcasting licences.
The Authority will carry out follow-up inspections as and when necessary to ensure that the resolution of the Board is complied with.
